About Us

Modern American Combative Knifeworks is the intersection point for several individuals’ divergent paths through the martial arts. Drawing on both Eastern and Western martial arts, we have sought to find what is common across all systems; be it the European swordsman or the Indonesian knife fighter, the boxer or the judoka, all share certain principles based on balance, timing, and the limitations of human motion. M.A.C.K. is the answer to the questions we asked.

Our goal is to provide the group or individual with realistic, edged weapon focused self defense. We have removed the mysticism and romanticism of violent edged weapon encounters, and hope to teach what a brutal, bloody reality it is. We believe that you should hope for the best and train for the worst. Sometimes you can’t run and some times you need an equalizer. To quote Master at Arms James A. Keating “There are more things on this planet with fangs, claws, poisons and scales than there are things that are warm, fuzzy and full of love. It's a simple Fact!”

We personally want to add that we are where we are because we stand on the shoulders of giants. Nothing is new under the sun, there is only a new way of looking at things.
