THE EDGE RENDERS SIZE
AND STRENGTH INCONSEQUENTIAL
Welcome to Modern American Combative
Knifeworks. After drawing on nearly seventy years
of combined martial arts experience the instructors
of M.A.C.K.now present to the public our series
of edged weapons training programs. We offer private
and group training sessions. If you are interested
in beginning the study of edged weapons for personal
protection or wishing to take your previous martial
training to the next level we can help.
Have
a Plan
When it comes right down to it, what
it takes to survive a serious assault on your life
is a plan. This is what M.A.C.K. Street-Kali skill
level one is all about. When an attack occurs you
need to have that plan in place or else you will
be caught far behind the power curve. When lives
are on the line you need to already know what to
do. You can't hope to come up with a plan on the
spot.
If you have some form martial training
you probably have some confidence in your skills.
If you have trained in Southeast Asian blade arts
such Kali, Silat, Eskrima, etc. as we have, you
probably are proficient in many drills and patterns.
We assure you that while these skills are useful, they
in all probability will NOT save you in an assault
where someone is intent on taking your life. The
problem with that sort of training lies in the fact
that most of the drills and techniques are all based
upon the assumption that you ALREADY
have your weapon deployed. The reality is most of
the time you will not! You will have to deploy your
weapon WHILE the attack
is in progress! Read that last sentence again. Our
Street-Kali programs assume that your weapon is
NOT in hand. We train
to access, draw, and employ a folding blade while
under attack from two or more attackers because
sometimes you just can't run.
Take some time to HONESTLY evaluate
your training. Does your defensive training even
include folding training knives, or are you training
with a fixed blade simulator already in hand? Are
you participating in scenario based training? Do
you train to deal with multiple attackers? Have
you become too focused on "flow" instead
of dealing with the broken, jarring rhythm of a
dedicated attack?
Your training must be realistic, dynamic,
and above all honest. It must create a reflexive
plan of action. If your training isn't accomplishing
these goals or if you don't know where to start,
consider attending one of our Street-Kali seminars
where we will get you started on the right path.
